Why I Set Up This Channel: I had a difficult childhood. What I didn't realise was, that my childhood would follow me into my adult life. My personal life was a catalogue of disasters. I kept getting myself into toxic and abusive situations. I have been in and out of therapy since I was 17, trying to make sense of my childhood and trying to feel better about myself. It was finally, in my forties, that I met a therapist who explained why I kept getting myself into damaging situations. At last, I had an awareness of what I was doing because I didn't know I was recreating the toxic patterns I learned in my childhood. Doing this is a subconscious process and if this therapist hadn't explained all this to me, I would still be getting myself into dysfunctional dynamics. If any of this sounds familiar to you, then this channel may help you. I want to help you stop repeating unhealthy patterns you learned in your childhood. The great news is that I want you to know that it is possible to heal from an abusive childhood. You just need the will to do this and the correct information and guidance. I am at last, in a place, where my childhood does not control me anymore and I like myself. I was a lost cause, so, if can do this, so can you.

What are The 6 Bad Messages? One day I sat down and I made myself write down what I really thought about myself. I was shocked by what I saw. This is what I wrote:

1) I am not enough 2) I am responsible for others

3) I must not trust my feelings and my instincts 4) I am bad and I am wrong

5) I am alone, nobody loves me 6) I must be perfect or nobody will love me

These are the messages my inner critical voice was constantly replaying to me. I learned to believe these messages about myself in my childhood. On this channel, I focus on explaining what I now call are The 6 Bad Messages we take from a toxic childhood. Do you feed yourself Bad Messages about yourself? Can you try and write them down? Are they similar to what I wrote about myself?

Nip and Flip: On this channel, I show you how to stop feeding yourself these 6 Bad Messages using what worked for me. I named it the Nip and Flip method.

What are Tales of Repetition Compulsion? If we had a difficult childhood, it is very likely that we will repeat toxic patterns we learnt in our childhoods through a psychological process called Repetition Compulsion. In order to make this concept easy to understand and relatable, I give examples, or Tales, of how Repetition Compulsion invades every area of our lives. I use 8 Life Categories to show this and they are: Work/Career, Family Roles, Finances, Relationships, Health/Self-Care, Learning/Achievements, Personal Goals, and Social/Community Interactions. In these Tales, I use two fictional characters, Eva and Jamie.

Who Are The Three Wise Tails? They are my 3 dogs - Petal, Blossie and Dotty. They are a constant support to me. Full of love. They never hurt or betray me. I asked them to take part on my channel as hopefully, they will help support you too. They love to ask you if you want to be a Top Dog or a Cog? Meaning, do you want your toxic childhood to still control you, or do you want to be the one in control of your life?
